The Weatherford Square Went All, ‘Hollywood’ On Us Last Night

WEATHERFORD — Tuesday was a star-studded night on Weatherford’s Historic Square when Zeno’s on the Square hosted a quiet, intimate evening benefitting the Careity Foundation.

The “reservations only,” Yellowstone event hosted special guests Taylor Sheridan and Cole Hauser.

For those of you who have been marooned on a desert island, without cable access for the last couple of years, Mr. Sheridan is the creator, producer and writer of the Paramount network’s hit series starring Kevin Costner (Mr. Sheridan teams with other writers on the script but we are convinced that the hit show is thanks to his quirky genius).

Oh, by-the-way, did we mention that Mr. Sheridan is a Parker County resident? He is. And, NO, you cannot have his address.

Mr. Hauser co-stars in the hit series as “Rip,” the strong, loyal, quiet, tough guy ranch foreman. He has become something of a heart-throb, inspiring T-Shirts with slogans like, “Rip Can Be My Ranch Hand, Anytime.” By, the way, ladies, you can find them at Peacock Feed & Boutique.

The quiet charity dinners (there were two seating’s. One at 5:00 PM and a second seating at 7:00 PM) were designed as an intimate dinner to raise a few bucks for the Parker County-based Careity Foundation, bolster the chances of Careity’s Parker County Today Bachelorette Nicole Wright (a competition that gives five local women eight weeks to raise money for their respective charities with the help of five local restaurants. The competition’s crescendo is a gala and dessert cook-off held at The Springs, October 17th).

But, word got out, as word tends to do in Parker County. Fans flocked around the upscale eatery and by the time Mr. Sheridan and his entourage arrived there was a herd of unexpected fans waiting for him.

A red carpet arrival was planned for guests to share a photo-op with the celebrities, but local fans were extemporaneously invited to participate as well. Most of the unexpected fans donated to Careity as well.

Not everyone at Zeno’s was a dyed-in-wool Yellowstone Fan, some were simply fans of Careity or fans of Zeno’s. Jamie Bodiford Brinkley, a local realtor, fell into that category. Not a big television viewer, she is a supporter of Careity and patron of Zeno’s and its sister restaurant Mama Monica’s.

“I’m thrilled to see the event was such a success for Careity and for Zeno’s,” She said. “I have never seen Yellowstone, but I’ll make a point of watching it since I met these nice young men and their wives. I think it’s wonderful for Parker County. They both have that great Parker County personality. How many Hollywood stars would stand for hours and do autographs and photos? They were all very gracious."

Jenni Day is a supporter of Zeno’s, Careity and Yellowstone.

“This is a great event, a lot of fun,” she said. “This was really great of them (Mr. Sheridan and his group) to do this. I’m glad he's in Parker County.”

Lauren Glass, was an invited guest. “So excited to be here to support the Careity Foundation! Yellowstone night at Zeno's on the Square! So glad to see Producer Taylor Sheridan again and meet Cole Hauser (aka Rip)! We’re rooting for our Parker County Bachelorette girl Nicole Wright!”
As for Mr. Sheridan, he will ride in Careity’s 25th Annual Celebrity Cutting competition in December, another fundraiser for the organization, that is famous for helping local people, using local funds, with zero percent of funds raised going to pay administrators.

“I love what they (Careity) do,” he said. “I love the fact that of the money Careity raises 100 percent goes to help cancer patients. I love to help while on cutting horses.”
